Have you ever wanted to learn the best ways to look after your dog’s coat? Or may e you just wanted to learn how to clip your pooches nails without doing damage to your loved canine’s skin? Have you even thought about buying a Dog Grooming book or a training DVD which might help you out? Wouldn’t it be even better if you actually learnt more about Dog Grooming from someone who can teach you the right way? I know I would.

http://www.topdogclub.com/dog-grooming-courses-to-suit-your-needs

This is why attending a Dog Grooming training course might be the better way to go. You see you would be able to view first hand how to actually groom your dog, and not only your dog, but maybe other sorts of dog breeds for your future reference. There is no telling how much you will learn when you see correct grooming in action-first hand!
I firmly believe in enrolling in a Dog Grooming Course, especially if you think you are not doing the best you can right now for your dog’s wellbeing. Remember Dog grooming not only refers to the washing and combing of a dog’s coat, but also deals with treating dog’s skin, ears and even eye care, and also teaches you about the correct doggy dental hygiene.
So think about the knowledge and benefits gained via a Dog Grooming Course, you never know it may be something worth your while. See how you go.

I know how hard it can be to toilet train any dog, whether your dog is a tiny Chihuahua,
or a larger fully grown Husky, they can both be a challenge. When I think back
to when Duke was a puppy, I remember how many times I needed to clean up his smelly
messes. WOW- they could be so messy and smelly!

http://www.topdogclub.com/toilet-train-your-puppydog-the-right-way

But there was an easier way to get through this stress, this way really helped me with
Duke’s toileting, and it was based around you as the master, keeping calm, controlled
and most of all the toilet training was based around consistency. When I talk
about consistency, I not only refer to the method itself, but also to the way
in which it is put in place. For example, making sure of the exact times of day
that I took Duke outside for his toilet break, as well as the place I allocated
for the actual toileting, and along with this, came my voice pattern and the
words I used for the toileting time – and even the tone of my voice for
implementing toilet time. These things were always consistent.

He eventually got the message conditioned into his daily routine, and this made
the toilet training process so much smoother and quicker.

http://www.topdogclub.com/toilet-train-your-puppydog-the-right-way

So if you are going through this toilet training phase right now, or have been struggling
with messy and smelly toileting all over your house, then you really need to take a look at this article.

I could never imagine letting Duke out of our home, via his doggy door, without having a barrier from the outside streets nearby. I know Duke is well behaved, but it is in his nature to want to go out and explore. Sometimes he runs around like crazy and has no regard for anything! I mean I have seen him in action, and I know this to be a fact. I still remember when he was a puppy, he chased another lady and her small Maltese Terrier, he did not see anything else except this dog- not even a van that pulled out in front of him, between him and the Terrier.

http://www.topdogclub.com/dog-fences-guide-for-caring-dog-owners

You might be wondering where I was at the time, well I was the lunatic chasing after him screaming out his name and the words “stop” and “come back. But thank God the Van stopped, and I caught up with Duke and picked him up, took him home and made sure he would not do that again! So I can really understand the need for fencing part or all of your property. But the type of fence is something that needs careful thought and consideration, before deciding and installing.

http://www.topdogclub.com/dog-fences-guide-for-caring-dog-owners

I suppose there are many factors that need to be taken into consideration when deciding on a type of fence for your property and in particular for stopping your dog from ‘escaping’ your property. These factors include the size and breed of your dog, whether your dog digs in order to escape, or whether your dog is good at jumping up high. Another thing to consider, is whether your dog can escape through holes in fences, i.e. small dog/decorative fencing.

If your large dog has jumped your normal fence line- you may even want to install some sort of electronic fencing and collar system, just to make sure your loved dog never gets close to the fence line and hence stopping his/her from escaping– this electronic fence will stop any sort of jumping or even digging action. If you want to take a closer look at which dog fence is best for you, before you decide, then you really should read on.

Sometimes we all need to ‘get away’ and have a break from the daily stresses of our busy lives. This is not always easy to do if you have pets. Being a dog owner is a huge responsibility, and one that I am sure is not taken lightly.

http://www.topdogclub.com/best-boarding-kennels-and-why

Every dog owner will think about their dog’s wellbeing before and during the time that they wish to spend away on a break. Questions like- who will feed my dog? Or, who will walk my dog? Or, who will make sure my dog is safe at night? These questions are all too familiar when a dog owner tries to spend some time away from home.
As dog owners we usually think about leaving our dogs with our family members first, but this is not always possible, so we then need to look at different avenues, usually ending up with – Dog Boarding Kennels.

http://www.topdogclub.com/best-boarding-kennels-and-why

These Boarding Kennels can be great for our dogs – especially if we find the right one. They can be a home away from home with certain benefits, we just need to put in a little extra time with our kennel search beforehand.
Once you find the right Boarding Kennel, at the right cost for you, you won’t need to look back. If you have researched the kennel you intend on using beforehand, you will be secure in the knowledge that your dog is safe and happy whilst you are away. Research and satisfaction with your Boarding Kennel will help you as the Dog Owner relax when you are away on your break.

Sometimes when I am looking at other dogs being walked by their owners, I wonder what these dogs are eating at home. I mean, I have this thought about some of the dog owners themselves, but more so about their loved dogs.

http://www.topdogclub.com/best-foods-for-our-dogs

I am not sure why I have these negative feelings/thoughts, it most probably could be because I read too much on things concerning the well being of our furry companions. I read and hear heaps about the increase in diabetes/heart disease and the shortened lifespan in some breeds, and the same questions come to my mind- why is this decrease in ‘dog health’ happening?
Are our dogs eating the right stuff?

http://www.topdogclub.com/best-foods-for-our-dogs

Have you ever wondered what types of food items are best for your dog? Are you feeding your loved pooch the right diet? Could you be doing something differently with your dog’s meal to aid your dog’s health and development?
If you have the same feelings as I do, and want to make sure your dog is on the right track to a long and healthy life, then take a look at this article, it may clear up some foggy areas.

It is very hard to understand why some dogs are sensitive to the intake of certain food items and not others. This food sensitivity can lead to the onset of many allergies. Allergies shown by dogs include watery eyes, skin redness or even full blown skin and coat rashes.
Seeing so many dog allergies is probably the reason why I try and avoid commercial dog food, and make my own whenever I can – Duke loves my cooking-more than the rest of the family!

http://www.topdogclub.com/best-dog-foods-for-dogs-with-allergies

But they can get a whole lot worse! Some dogs lose their appetite and a whole lot of weight to boot. The dog food allergies that can occur are too many to list, and trying to find out the actual cause of individual allergies can be like finding a ‘needle in a haystack’. So dog owners need to start from scratch, use one food product at a time, making sure that each of the food items are o.k. for their dog. Only when the owner is sure that a particular item is not causing an allergy or sensitivities – can this food be given to the dog as part of their diet and meals.

http://www.topdogclub.com/best-dog-foods-for-dogs-with-allergies

It does seem like a very slow and painful process, but it is the best way to alleviate dog allergies-caused by foods in individual dog diets
If you want to find out more about the types of food allergies shown by our dogs, and how to prevent them from occurring, you really should read on.

Way back now, when Duke was a puppy, I was looking into various Dog Training Schools. I wondered which training avenue I should take with his type of learning ability and ‘dog’ skills. I knew he would end up being a rather big dog, because of his breed. And I was really sure that I wanted him to be fairly protective of me- especially because I spend many days and nights at home on my own, due to my Hubby’s work. But I just did not know where to send him so he could learn how to be protective in a ‘good way’.

http://www.topdogclub.com/are-protection-dog-training-schools-for-any-dog-breed

I did not want him to end up being an attack dog- or a dog that was viscous in any way- because I have grand-children that stay with me often. So what should I do to make sure he was trained properly in the area of protection?
I asked my vet, what his opinion was, and also if he had any ideas when it came to dog training schools or centres. He responded and referred me to a great dog training school that specialized in ‘protection’. He believed Duke was a suitable breed, with enough ‘dog smarts’ to be able to keep up with all the training involved in the ‘dog protection training curriculum’ offered. And that if I was interested I should give it a go with Duke for a few weeks.

http://www.topdogclub.com/are-protection-dog-training-schools-for-any-dog-breed

So I did enrol Duke into this particular Dog Protection Training Course, and I am so glad I did. Duke has been a great protective dog ever since and the training was great. He not only alerts me if there is anyone outside my home before the doorbell rings-but jumps to attention if there is an approaching stranger, anywhere! But at the same time, he will stay and heel, etc. when I give him commands. If you are trying to figure out what the best sort of training would be for your type of dog breed then read on.

It’s Sally here, writing to make sure you received my earlier e-mail regarding ‘Joint Pain in dogs’. This was a very important e-mail for me to send out, because it touched on an issue close to my heart. This issue was mainly to do with the pain Duke is going through right now.

http://www.topdogclub.com/dog-arthritis-pain-symptoms-causes-and-treatments

My beloved Duke is no longer a spring chicken – when he wakes in the morning, I can tell his legs are very stiff and a little numb. This is especially obvious whilst he makes his way out of his basket, after a long sleep, I know he is in some form of discomfort. I have had him checked out by our vet, and it is definitely Joint pain. But this is not the only type of pain he could suffer from, now that he is reaching his later years.
You see Duke could also have some symptoms related to Canine Arthritis. Although Arthritis in dogs may have other causes apart from old age, most forms of the disease are just as hard to treat and have no real cures.
There are many causes of arthritis in dogs- which you as a dog lover should be aware of. These include, old age, lack of exercise , genetics, hip dysplasia, joint trauma, ruptured ligaments, just to name a few.

Knowing that arthritic pain in dogs is very common and that most dogs will experience either joint pain or arthritic pain, I feel you should be aware of it, and treat it wherever possible.

Have you ever wanted to cover yourself and your dog from any future veterinary costs? And have you ever thought about HOW each dog insurance policy amount is actually determined or figured out by Insurance Companies?

http://www.topdogclub.com/dog-insurance-cost-how-is-it-really-worked-out

Are the costs simply plucked out of thin air, or are they calculated using some other mathematical formula? Or are they just one big ‘big rip off’? This has occurred to me more than a few times, because I have dog insurance, and a friend of mine has dog insurance as well, but our annual policy cost is not the same- why?

http://www.topdogclub.com/dog-insurance-cost-how-is-it-really-worked-out

Well after looking into this matter, and asking heaps of questions to my current Insurer- in a pretty firm voice- I was a little fed up and annoyed because I still could not get an answer that satisfied me.
In all my huffing and puffing about how the actual Dog Insurance policy amount is figured out, I did come across this informative article that sort of made some sense of all the different prices out there!
So if you are really want to know how the Insurance companies arrive at your insurance cost amount than you should read on.

You know Duke –my canine companion, is not as young as he once was. The years have passed but I still remember when my Husband and I first set up his sleeping area, and also when we installed his doggy door (for his easy access to the backyard). I remember lots of playing and walking with him, as well the whole family playing lots of Dukes favourite doggy games. But these memories all seem like an eternity ago- when Duke was just a pup.
But he is now getting on in years. Those days of non-stop energy are gone and he is a more subdued version of what he used to be. And now I, as his owner and caretaker, always worry about his wellbeing, and also about his pain threshold.

http://www.topdogclub.com/joint-pain-in-dogs-symptoms-causes-and-treatments

I have him checked out by my local vet regularly-maybe to the point of being obsessive! This is mainly because I understand how age can affect any dog’s (especially larger dogs) bones. I am always concerned about Duke and whether he is suffering from joint pain or arthritis.

http://www.topdogclub.com/joint-pain-in-dogs-symptoms-causes-and-treatments

It is just so hard to know or understand what any dog is feeling –unless he/she starts to whimper and stops moving around. But by this stage your loved family dog could be in great need of help and probably has already suffered somewhat.
If you want to understand the signs of when your dog is experiencing joint pain, and also what you -as a dog owner can do about it, before too much damage has been caused, then you should really read on-

Your loved pooch will thank you for it-in his/her own way!
